Imperfect Progress Titles

Today I would like to share this excerpt from Day 14. This book is all about helping find your purpose. But sometimes it can feel like we are insignificant next to the bigness of God. Why would he want to work with us?

Cookies

God’s desire to partner with us can be confusing. This is even more true considering our smallness beside His power, wisdom, authority, and resources. Why would He want to partner with me? What do I contribute to this relationship?

The best way I can wrap my mind around it is to think about making cookies. If you have ever made cookies with a child, you know it is messier, takes longer, and is less perfect than following the same recipe alone in your clean kitchen.

So why bother going through all that hassle, when the same or better cookies come from working alone? I never ask a child to bake cookies with me because I need her help. It’s because I want to spend time with her and create memories baking together.

God wants me to be a part of what He is doing. He could zap a book into print and distribute it without my help! Instead, He gets His kitchen covered in flour because He wants to share the process with me. He knows where I fall short, but He is patient with me because He loves me.

And He loves you too. The weight of your purpose isn’t on your shoulders! He is the one doing the heavy lifting. And He always lets us lick the spoon.
